The year 2012 witnessed two major web brands Microsoft (technically not a web brand) and eBay go through logo and identity changes. The brands wanted to display its modernity and sophistication through the design tweaks. Microsoft incorporated the Metro User Interface in its logo to give uniformity across the various product ranges where as eBay wanted to make a shift in its identity from being an eCommerce website to being a global internet marketplace. The two brands ushered in a new thinking and fresh outlook to their branding and design.
