Move over Segway, there’s a new personal mobility device and it is more convenient and innovative than any of its predecessors. The Uni-Cub is a single seat personal transport device that Honda plans to launch in the near future. The future of mobility is going to be a personal experience, so it seems with Honda’s latest concept the Uni-Cub, a soon-to-be-launched personal mobility device. The Uni-Cub can travel at the speed of 6 kmph which is a comfortable pace to travel on while maintaining balance on it. It is packed with a lithium-ion battery that lasts about an hour. With the help of the Omni Traction Drive System that surrounds the main wheel with a series of smaller wheels, the vehicle can turn about its axis easily. A rider can learn the controls in a matter of minutes, or so Honda claims. The vehicle can also be controlled with a smartphone app; using it, the rider can maneuver the Uni-Cub with his phone itself.
The Uni-Cub presents opportunities for the future that Honda can build on, especially the smartphone app that revolutionize the way a cars function. It provides an efficient way for people with mobility issues to travel without hassles. But the flipside is that the person seems like he’s riding a commode.
