A person spends an average of 40 min at a hair salon getting different services. Most often than not, the time is spent having an animated conversation with the hair stylist while he works his magic. TEDx plugged itself in these conversations to tell Argentineans that it had arrived in their country.

TEDx is a non-profit organisation and a juggernaut in spreading ideas that are intellectually stimulating. TEDx hosts a series of open discussions where individuals of all walks of life elaborate an interesting topic through their speech.

The everyday people of Argentina did not know of TEDx’s presence in their country. To get the people’s attention and spread TEDx’s ideas virally, TEDx invited 60 local hair stylist for a session and encouraged them to spread these ideas with their customers.

The hair dressers engaged their customers in a conversation about TEDx and how the organisation had made in roads in their country. The 60 hair dressers spoke to an average of 18 clients in a week, in all reaching 7650 people through word of mouth only, showing us that great ideas don’t require tons of advertising spends and buying media.
