Have you ever wanted to create that beautiful artwork but didn’t know where to find that perfect brush or how to apply that master stroke on the canvas? Well, you won’t have to worry about that anymore, because you can just go out and buy yourself a pair of Nike shoes to do just that!

Imagine a paintbrush attached to the back of your shoe, so that everytime you go for a morning jog, a painting is created depending on the path you tread. This is exactly what Nike has achieved in their latest installation.

This installation was created by Nike in collaboartion with YesYesNo for the launch of the Nike Free Run campaign. Using software tools made with openFrameworks and GPS  run data, the runners were able to create dynamic paintings with their feet. Based on the runners’ speed, distance and acceleration, visual patterns were created using textures and colors. These patterns were then outputted as a high resolution print which the participants could take home.

And thats not all – based on the composition of run, custom fabricated shoe boxes were made where the runner’s name, city and the distance of the run was incorporated.
