According to sources, Google is planning to name its next Android release- Android Ice Cream which is rumored for a release this July. This will be 2.4 version of the Android.

This comes as a surprise especially when Gingerbread 2.3 has still not been released fully. It also breaks the alphabetical sequence followed by Google Android (D-Donut, E-Eclair, F-FroYo, G-Gingerbread, H-Honeycomb, and I-Ice Cream).

According to rumors, Google is planning to name its tablet Android OS as Honeycomb, therefore starting a new naming system for the Android tablet.
