Ever thought that commercial advertisements on billboards are far too mundane? Imagine if the billboards in your city were turned into interesting pieces of Art Installations. The latest augmented reality software by Julian Oliver and Damian Stewart called “Artvertiser” now makes this possible.
The Artvertiser is an augmented reality software that can replace billboard advertisements with art in real-time thus giving a perception of reality which is “improved”. Using Computer Vision, the software can recognize billboard advertisements and replace it with multimedia content such as images or video. This replaced content is viewable only by the Artvertiser’s own Digital Binoculars.
Artvertiser is an open source software that runs on Linux and Mac operating systems. A port for the Android OS is currently under development.
