To mark the release of Ubuntu 10.10 on 10.10.10, the Ubuntu community threw a party on 10.10.10. The stable release of the Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat 10.10 marks an important event because of its cloud computing features which allows application to sit on the cloud and users to access it from the cloud.
Ubuntu 10.10 server edition gets kernel upgrades with more configurations at boot time and feature to run Amazon Machine Image off-line on KVM-virtualized machine which allows users to test on local servers before publishing it to the cloud.
Ubuntu 10.10 extends “CloudInit” which allows the users to set up default locale, hostname, generate SSH private keys and set up mount points. Users can also run custom commands and scripts on initial startup on each reboot. The technology was recently adopted by Amazon itself.
Ubuntu 10.10 takes a huge leap from its old UI. The UI has been given a huge lift which makes Ubuntu even more exciting to use.
