For the non-design folks, kinetic typography is an animation technique mixing motion and text. It is a form of temporal typography (i.e. typography presented over time) and is often produced using Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects and Apple Motion. Carnegie Mellon University has created a dedicated Kinetic Typography Engine to teach typography techniques to students.
