Foursquare is a mobile application that lets users ‘check in’ to places when they are there and rewards them for doing so. It is a friend finder, a social city guide and a game that makes cities more interesting to explore.
Recently, Foursquare managed to put up a massive display ad on New York Times Square that reads “Check In, Find Your Friends, Unlock Your City”. It is reported that Foursquare did not pay for the ad but actually had some kind of a deal with the American Eagle – The largest digital Billboard in Times Square.
