Empire Avenue is a Canadian startup that has raised around 200k from the share market in US as funding to their potential idea. Empire Avenue, which launched their beta version this year has been receiving quite a response from people. The Concept here is to integrate your social media experience and give it a virtual price which then can be traded in the virtual Market. Initial stock price is calculated based on your twitter followers, Facebook friends and your blog. Once the price is evaluated, shares are thrown open for people to buy which is then traded in the virtual market.
Since February, Empire Avenue has attracted over 15,000 registered users and businesses to the market, including Sears, OREO, WestJet, Motorola, and others. Empire Avenue says that over 750,000 virtual share trades have occurred on the site in the past three months with a total value of over half a billion Eaves, the site’s virtual currency.
